Today, Michael and Matthew Gardiner are five-time World Champion Irish dancers, viral content creators, and keynote performers who have captivated audiences worldwide. With over 9 million followers and 1.5 billion views on social media, they fuse traditional Irish dance with modern music and creative storytelling, earning recognition from global brands, media outlets, and celebrities.
Through their unique fusion of tradition and innovation, they create dynamic social media content, deliver high-impact corporate entertainment, and inspire audiences through their keynote experiences. As former Principal dancers in Riverdance and producers and stars of their own show ‘Unleashed’, the Gardiner brothers have honed their skill of connecting and moving audiences in settings and stages of all sizes. Invited to perform at a Denver Broncos game in Denver! A great moment for us, as we are life long Broncos fans!

Worked with Visit Dubai on a globally recognised social media campaign. Shot an advert all over Dubai for the tourism board which was award winning that year.

Both successfully audition for the Lead role in Riverdance; Michael got to perform his first lead show in Boston and Matthew got to perform his first in Chicago. Toured the world as lead members of the show until September 2024.

Both of us finally embark on tour with Riverdance for the first time together on their autumn UK tour.

Matthew graduates from NUI Galway as a Civil Engineer.

Competed in ‘The Big Deal’ which was a national talent show in the Three Arena in Dublin with a winning prize of €50k. Got all the way to the final and finished Runners- Up.

Michael Graduated from the University of Limerick as an Architect!
July 2018
Invited to choreograph a special piece for Pope Francis in Croke Park and performed for 90,000 people at the World Meeting of Families.

Matthew wins his third and final World Title in Glasgow, Scotland. The trophy he won, was the first World Title that Michael won, so that world title trophy has both of the Gardiner Brothers names written on it forever! Very special. Matthew decided that this would be his last competition and finished on top!

Matthew wins his second world title in Dublin, Ireland.

Matthew features in Ed Sheeran’s Galway Girl music video that was shot in Galway city the week before Matthew competed at the World Championships.
June 2016
Michael joins the Riverdance Shannon Company at the end of their 2016 USA tour. This is the first time one of the brothers got to tour with Riverdance. Michael then spends the next year touring the world with Riverdance. Starting in China for 4 months and then continuing to the 2017 North America tour with the company. Tours continuously until the end of the Summer in 2017, when he goes back to college to finish his degree in Architecture.
July 2015
Both successfully audition for Riverdance at the Riverdance Summer School. Michael (19) does his first show at the end of the week of auditions.
April 2015
Created Irish Dancing history by becoming the first brothers in over 40 years to win the World Championship in the same year. Matthew wins his age group with a perfect score – 700/700 points.
May 2014
Join the world famous Kilfenora Ceili Band as part of their touring group. Danced and toured with them as the Gardiner Brothers act for nearly 5 years.
April 2014
Michael wins first of his World Titles in London, England after winning every Major title in the season leading into the World Championship.

First VIRAL video on Facebook which got over 40,000 shares and 20 million views.
November 2010
First national TV appearance, when we were 14 and 10, appearing on the Late Late Toy Show dancing to the song Happy Feet.
2008
Started performing at weddings, corporate events and birthday parties as a duo for the first time. We were 12 and 9 years old.
April 2006
Moved to Galway, Ireland with our family and joined the Hession School of Irish Dance in Galway.
October 2004 & 2005
Gardiner Brothers each win their respective world qualifying event back to back. First time they won a Major competition at the same time.
2003
Started competing in Irish Dancing across the Western Region of the USA.
